Booking Guidelines

If you would like to bring a school class to the Museum please use this link to our online reservation system where you can select a date and time on the calendar.  Please note that all guided tours are required to provide one chaperone for every group of seven participants under the age of 18.

Frequently Asked Questions

When are School Expeditions offered?

School Expeditions are available to be booked year round. Expeditions are conducted Wednesday – Friday with start times available at 9:00 am, 9:30 am, 10:00 am, 10:30 am, 11:00 am, 11:30 am, noon, and 12:30 pm. Expeditions are not available on weekends. Reservations MUST be made at least two weeks in advance, require full payment at the time of reservation, and are subject to availability. If we have not received prepayment for your Expedition(s), then you do not have a reservation.

How early do I need to make reservations?

The sooner you make your reservation, the better choice of dates and times you have. You will find it helpful to make your reservations at least three to four months in advance. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Expedition times are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Full payment for your Expedition is required to make a reservation. If we have not received prepayment for your Expedition(s) via a check from your school or school district or credit card, then you do not have a reservation. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance.

May I bring my students to the museum without booking an Expedition?

Yes, if your group has a total of 11 or more people, you are welcome to visit the museum after 2 pm, Wednesday – Friday, as a self-guided group. No prepayments are required for self-guided groups. However, they will be required to sign an Expedition Agreement form. For the safety of our patrons and our artifacts, self-guided groups of 11 or more people are not allowed in the museum before 2 pm.

How many people can go on an Expedition?

Each School Expedition time slot requires a minimum of 30 people, except April 1 through August 31, the minimum number of people is 15. The maximum number of people per Expedition is 44.  Please note that School Expeditions are required to provide 1 chaperone for every group of 7 participants under the age of 18.

How can I purchase extra tickets for more parents/new students/etc., after I have already booked an Expedition?

You can pay for extra people at the admissions desk on the day of your Expedition. Please keep in mind that each time slot can only accommodate a total of 44 people.

What happens if I need to change the date of my Expedition?

The museum does not allow for any rescheduling once a reservation has been made. Rescheduling will not be allowed for any reason, including, but not limited to, group lateness, busing issues, groups that do not show up on their scheduled day and time, or date conflicts. Please be sure of your date before booking. Check your school calendar for all upcoming holidays, in-services, state testing, etc.

Are School Expeditions refundable?

No. School Expeditions are non-refundable. Prepayments for more tickets than were used on the day of the visit may not be refunded or transferred. Refunds will not be issued for any reason, including, but not limited to, the over purchase of tickets, group lateness, busing issues, groups that do not show up on their scheduled day and time, or date conflicts. Be 100% sure of your date and time before booking.

Do you accept Purchase Orders?

The museum does not accept Purchase Orders. If we have not received prepayment for your Expedition(s) via a check from your school or school district or credit card then you do not have a reservation. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance.
